Jennifer Roberts: How I can help you...

The home care industry is one of the great success stories of the past decade. It has enjoyed spectacular growth in the face of many highs and lows in our economy. Across Britain, home care is employing tens of thousands of men and women who help an            increasing number of people - elderly and disabled - to live independently in their homes. Home care is one of the most important and powerful industries in the UK.

But those delivering the care are still the unsung heroes of the health and social care sectors. Since the early 1980s, I have seen home care develop from a back-street, almost invisible community initiative into the £2 billion a year business it is today. In those early days there were no local authority contracts, the industry was entirely unregulated - and very much viewed as the ‘Cinderella’ of the health care sector. I have witnessed and been part of every model of development in home care, including spot purchasing, block contracts, sub-contracting, partnership working, business development and mentoring.

I have operated at the highest level in a wide variety of environments, from central offices with regional support to branch networks, franchises and units with care advisors based at home. I have long experience of change through regulation and inspection and been heavily involved in many business development, training and marketing initiatives. In launching this new Caring for your Business service, I have been inspired by two models of business development: Personalisation (providing solutions and practical help for an individual business as and when it is needed); building a good relationship (keeping regular contact with clients to provide relevant, up-to-date information and guidance).

My aim is to enable as many people/businesses as possible to benefit from my experience in home care over the past 20-plus years. You will be able to contact me personally for information, support, advice and guidance on issues/challenges/problems as and when they arise. I will offer practical, simple solutions to meet your specific needs. I want to help you by answering your questions, when they occur. To give you access to my experience at a price you can afford. I also offer an advocacy/mediation and arbitration service to independently resolve complaints and grievances. I look forward to hearing from you.
